It was the year fast fashion resulted in the deaths of hundreds of production workers. With the harrowing sounds of Primark’s Bangladesh based manufacturing factory collapsing to nothing but mere rubble in April of this year ignorance became a cemented moral wrong to the high street buyer. It was the year the high street consumer began to check the label, not merely for the price tag, but for the origin of production.

John Smedley was British manufacturing’s answer to intricate, beautifully crafted knitwear in merino wools and cashmere, whilst Crombie, established circa 1800, produced some of its finest heritage coats in the colder climates of Scotland, a beacon of the best of British. Now however, British manufactured brands are turning contemporary with the likes of J.W Anderson (the man who will attempt to inject a flared skirt into the modern day gentleman’s wardrobe) to knitwear extraordinaire Sibling. British manufacturing is fast becoming a badge brands want to sport.

Introducing Sophie Flemming, a lady with impeccable taste. With the announcement the luxe-backpack is the new must have accessory for the coming season Sophie’s concept couldn’t have arrived at a more appropriate time. Having launched this month Fleming London offers those with a love of beautifully crafted and fashion forward design the perfect purchase. And the beauty of the bag? It’s British.

Each and every Fleming backpack is handmade, right here in Britain created using some of the finest vegetable tanned leather. The bag, nodding towards elements of a traditional doctors holdall boasts polished silver fittings, a minimal design aesthetic with a double clip close fold over flap. Available in rich dyes that include a royal blue, blood red, classic ivory and black the Fleming label sees quality and craftsmanship integral to its brand ethos.

Evidentially business minded, it is no simple coincidence Sophie Fleming has launched her label just in time for Christmas. Customers can place orders up until the dizzying last minute time of midday on 23rd December for delivery in time for Christmas day.

With the New Year marking the time of out with the old and in with the new we’re bringing the Fleming brand through with us into 2014 in black, white, red and blue.
