I rarely get hysterical about editorial photography, especially menswear. Copious amounts of editing, for me, hinders the idea that fashion photography is there to demonstrate the creative perspective on fashion. Often clothes are too obscured and the concept too conceptual to convey a clear editorial message. After all we’re all buyers as much as we are editorial fans.

The latest issue of HERO magazine is out, a biannual menswear mag dedicated to all things fashion, edited by a familiar face, Art Director of Dazed & Confused magazine, James West.

Stretching from Kenzo, Givenchy, Versace, Matthew Miller, Christopher Shannon, Raf Simons and Jil Sander but to name only the tip of an intensifying iceberg of luxury, the editorial featured couldn’t be more suitable if you’re looking into buying ready-to-wear for this spring.

Entitled: “They have more money than you” the ten page spread, shot by Scott Trindle, features some of the most luxurious garments next season has to offer in the style of heavy embellishment, striking embroidery and overwhelming regal prints to the backdrop of a typical country English estate. The juxtaposition of ultra modern luxury against a more traditional backdrop of mahogany and chaise longue interiors has allowed Trindle, and stylist John McCarty, to integrate an underlying idea of the powerful history of the upper classes in Britain with unorthodox designers such as Kenzo, balancing the dated backdrop with a refreshingly youthful edge.
